How and why

In July of 2014, one of my family members was having stomach and digestion problems. The pain was so excruciating he had checked himself into the emergency room. After many tests and doctors later, he was diagnosed with bladder cancer. Our family watched him whither away because he was not eating, and slept hours on end.

The doctor put him on a strict no soy, no wheat, and dairy-free diet to help his system absorb only the basic nutrients.

In my household, we live a vegetarian lifestyle. My mother-in-law asked me for recipe ideas. As I am familiar with vegan meals, I decided to start posting recipes for her by creating this website.

This is how got started, with a heartfelt need to help out family.

Today, better chow posts all sorts of recipes. It is my mission to share meal ideas for your table. Please search through the recipes, my hope is that you find Better Chow!
